Paradise Lost represents a freely constructed condition of mind in which a subjective whole of experience is regained via gender reciprocity and the sublime. In its turn, such wholeness of experience makes possible acts of choosing for the good of being as a whole. And in Kant's capacity as theorist of experience he repeatedly focused on the dozen verses of
Paradise Lost that are crowned by "Male and Femal Light" (VIII.140-152).
